We are excited to announce the latest release of our SWIM Service Connectors, which has been improved following our successful participation in the FAA SWIM Developer Workshop in June. Our developers have been hard at work to implement the feedback from this event and our customers to make the process of consuming and leveraging data from EUROCONTROL NM B2B and FAA SWIM data feeds even more intuitive and valuable. Alongside the new release of the underlying SWIM Service Connectors, we’ve also upgraded the accompanying TFM bundle, making it even more user-friendly and intuitive.
Support for Solace JMS APIs
In addition to ActiveMQ, WebLogic and HTTP protocols, the SWIM Service Connectors now also support the Solace JMS APIs used by the FAA SWIM data feeds. This will allow customers to consume and leverage data from FAA Traffic Flow Management (TFM), SWIM Terminal Data Distribution System (STDDS) and SWIM Flight Data Publication Service (SFDPS). With this added flexibility customers can now use ONE tool to connect to any number of SWIM feeds.
A tuned data-model Traffic Flow Management
The FAA Traffic Flow Management (TFM) SWIM data feed is one of the most popular data feeds available on SWIM and includes data such as:
- Flight Plans (including Amendments and Cancellations)
- Departure and Arrival Time Notifications
- Track and Oceanic Position Reports
- Boundary Crossings
- Flight Management Information
- TMI Definitions
- Reroutes, Ground Stops, Ground Delay Programs, Airspace Flow
- Airport Runway Configurations
- Airport De-icing Status
As part of this latest update, customers can now take advantage of a more intuitive database structure designed specifically for TFM. This new structure enables customers to filter, query and analyse all of the above aspects of TFM via a standard SQL interface, inclusive of spatial data which are stored as native spatial data types.
After listening to feedback from our customers, we’ve created additional documentation on the TFM XML schema so that users can ‘trace back’ from the SWIM Service Connector database model to the original FAA TFM XML Schema.
New In-Database Documentation
In addition to the XML schema documentation, the database schema created by the SWIM Service Connectors now includes ‘in-database’ documentation alongside every table and column. This feature allows users to easily understand what information from the data feed is stored in tables and columns, saving time going back and forth between data feed documentation and the database.
