INSPIRE Annex II and III Data Specifications Agreed

Last Monday (8th April) was a momentous one for me. Not only was it my birthday, but I also celebrated the months of hard work that myself and other experts across Europe put into the development of the INSPIRE Annex II and III Data Specifications. The INSPIRE Annex II and II Data Specifications were unanimously agreed by the Member States, with only a couple of minor amendments being required for a few code lists. The translation of the Implementing Rule for Interoperability of spatial data sets and services can now be finalised and the Regulation will enter into force in the forthcoming months….

Rubbish data in, rubbish data out – it is an inescapable fact that you can’t do a great deal with rubbish data, no matter how clever your axioms are. What you can do however, is work out how rubbish and why that is rubbish….you can now use business rules to check that the data content makes sense for your domain and usage.

INSPIRE Download Services – it’s time to get started

June 2012 represents another major milestone for INSPIRE Implementation. This is the month when Annex I and II data providers are expected to have set up their INSPIRE Download Services in initial operating capability. However, if you have not been able to do this yet, don’t panic as the European Commission only published the latest version of the INSPIRE Download Services Technical Guidance v3.0 on 12th June. But it is time to get started..
