Sharing Practical Experiences
At this year’s INSPIRE Conference 2012 held in Istanbul, Turkey, Richard Rombouts presented our experience working with Natural England to transform and publish their datasets to the INSPIRE Annex I theme.
Over the last two years, INSPIRE Annex I data providers from across Europe have been working on harmonising their datasets to the INSPIRE data specifications. With the Annex II and III data specifications now finalised, many more data providers will soon be required to harmonise their datasets to these specifications. Implementation of Annex II and III themes will be the biggest challenge in the history of INSPIRE with thousands of data providers transforming, harmonising and publishing their data to the INSPIRE implementation rules.
For many data providers this will be the first time that they will be confronted by INSPIRE, so getting started may seem like a daunting task. Therefore sharing experiences from harmonising Annex I datasets with the wider European INSPIRE community should be beneficial to the new Annex II and III data providers to help them get started quicker by selecting the right knowledge base and technologies.
