Implementing INSPIRE Download Services

June 2012 represents another major milestone for INSPIRE Implementation. This is the month when Annex I and II data providers are expected to have set up their INSPIRE Download Services in initial operating capability. However, if you have not been able to do this yet, don’t panic as the European Commission only published the latest version of the INSPIRE Download Services Technical Guidance v3.0 on 12th June.

This Technical Guidance explains how to establish two types if INSPIRE Download Service for:

  1. Non-interoperable Download Service: providing access to your datasets as they currently provided to users today
  2. Interoperable Download Service: providing access to your data transformed into the relevant harmonised INSPIRE data specification

We’ve been busy here at Snowflake Software reviewing this Technical Guidance and are pleased to say that the requirements for implementing INSPIRE Download Services are not too onerous and that our software meets the requirements already.

So for those of you that are required to set up an INSPIRE Download Service by end of December 2012 – don’t panic! But it’s time to get started.

To help get you all up to speed with the latest technical guidance for INSPIRE Download Services we are giving a workshop at the INSPIRE Conference in Istanbul on Sunday 24th June at 16:00 in Beylerbeyi Hall 1.

In this workshop, I (Debbie Wilson) will take you through the 3 options for implementing an INSPIRE Download Service with practical demonstrations, where we shall address some of the implementation issues that you may face.  We are also happy to answer any of your questions that you may have.

If you’re not headed to the INSPIRE Conference in Turkey this year don’t worry. We’re always happy to arrange a webinar and take you through INSPIRE Download Services. Contact us to learn more.
